| DOG/CAT ADOPTIONS & DOG/CAT RESCUE IN FLORIDA The Humane Society of Inverness, Inc., incorporated in September of 2004, is not affiliated with any other humane society. The Director of the HSI started rescuing animals in 1998, but at that time, was focused only on one breed, the Bouvier des Flanders. She noted that there were many other breeds in need and soon, became involved in multi-breed rescue. Cats have been part of our rescue program for the past 3 years. Since September of 2004, we have found loving, permanent homes for 4,377 homeless dogs and cats!! We presently have the capacity to provide shelter for up to 80 dogs and 20 cats on site, with multiple foster families who assist us with the additional pets who will need a safe haven.
